In life we are blessed with the power of choice. We can choose to either selfishly withhold close to our chests all we have to ourselves or we can choose to give to others and share our gift of time and resources. “There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up,” as said by John Holmes. This sentiment is further affirmed by Maya Angelou who was a strong advocate for peace and giving to others. One quote that we particular resonate with is, “If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.” This affirms our African roots of Ubuntu where we believe “umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” which translates to “you are who you are because of other people.”
On the 23rd of June 2018, the Ms Drop a Blanket Pageant Show for girls took place in a spectacular fashion (excuse the pun) and was nothing short of mesmerising. You must be wondering why we are only writing about this a month later. Well, an amazing initiative knows no time bounds and a month and a couple of days later, we are still amazed by the sheer determination of the young girls who took part in the beauty pageant as part of the initiative.
When the founder of Drop a Blanket Freda Malema approached us, we jumped at the chance to be part of something bigger than us as a company. As a sponsor for the Drop a Blanket Gala Dinner event, we were moved to contribute towards improving the lives of little girls and contribute towards building their self-worth and sense of confidence and can-do attitude. We believe in laying the foundation one brick at a time and helping in providing a bright future for girls who will turn into women that will contribute towards the betterment of society. It is said, “Each one, teach one.” It is our responsibility to help teach girls, and they in turn will teach others and thereby creating a legacy of a community that passes down the legacy of progress and education. The proceeds for the gala event were donated to the various orphanages and hospices in Pretoria, predominantly Garankuwa, Soshanguve and Pretoria West.
As a company that deals with human capital, we understand the power of helping others and the impact it makes in the lives of others. We strive to help others to live a life that is enriched and fulfilling by helping them put food on the table through job placement. Our mandate as PPC Recruitment extends over and above what we do as a company and we are invested in the overall empowerment of people. We were therefore drawn to this initiative and wanted to contribute our share to the cause.
Our passion for people and for upliftment is what drives us to do more. At PPC Recruitment we are passionate about the upliftment of the community and we have contributed towards charities over the years.
We would like to give Freda a hearty and warm thank you for creating an initiative that is contributing towards the betterment of young girls and giving them a chance at a better life. May your work continue to multiple tenfold and reap even more rewards for these young girls who look onto to the future with bright smiles on their faces and brilliant ideas in their minds that will change the world.
